Strasbourg cultural guide
Whether into theater, opera or classical concerts, Strasbourg has plenty to offer all year long. Ticket prices for museums are around 4-5€, whatever you want to see but temporary exhibitions are generally not included in the museums’ entrance fee.
The major venue for operas and operettas is the Théâtre Municipal (19 place Broglie). It features classical as well as contemporary music. Other music treats may be savored at the Palais de la Musique et des Congrès (place de Brodeaux) or Conservatoire National de Région de Strasbourg (10 rue du Hohwald), thanks to the exquisite Orchestre Philarmonique de Strasbourg.
Whether into modern or classical dances, Strasbourg has various venues to cater to all tastes, of which the aforementioned Théâtre Municipal and Palais de la Musique et des Congrès stand out.
Performing arts usually take place at the Théâtre National de Strasbourg (1 avenue de la Marseillaise) all year long. The program includes both contemporary and classical works and ticket prices are usually about 16-25€, but cheap tickets may be obtained with a special pass. Other hot spots for plays are the Théâtre Jeune Public (7 rue des Balayeurs) and Le Maillon (13 place André Maurois).
When it comes to films, Strasbourg has a lot of cinemas, the most popular being the multiplex UGC Ciné Cité (25 route du Rhin), the largest cinema in the entire Europe, featuring no less than 23 screens. Films generally run in their original language and have subtitles. Other Strasbourg cinemas include the UGC Capitole (3-5 rue du 22 Novembre) and Cinéma le Star (27 rue Jeu des Enfants).
All in all, culture is everywhere in Strasbourg and its abundance is a true delight.
